Statement of Faith

The Scriptures
Scripture is made up of God’s words, breathed by Himself and written through many human authors. Being God Breathed, the Bible is inerrant. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17). If the Scriptures are the Words of God, then all truth must be weighed against it. God is the final authority on all things, and so also are His words.

The Godhead
God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Triune God, three in one. (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 63:10; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19).  There is one God, who is three persons, each being fully God.

God the Father orchestrated the means by which mankind could be redeemed (John 3:16). Though all persons of God are equal, God the Father takes the role of authority over the Son and Holy Spirit, commanding and directing them.

God the Son goes where the Father sends Him and does what the Father orchestrates (John 6:38). He is the Savior of the world, and we are made acceptable unto God through His blood and sacrifice (Ephesians 1:7). He lived a perfect life on earth, died, and resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:3,4), and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father (Acts 7:55,56). Belief in Him is the only way to the Father (John 14:6).

The Holy Spirit was sent to Earth at Pentecost. He convicts us of sin, guides us, and glorifies the Father and the Son (John 16:6-15). He illuminates Truth (Ephesians 1:17-18) and brings us the remembrance of Truth (John 14:26). He indwells ALL those who are saved at the point of salvation (John 14:17), but as we mature we are filled more and more with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).

Creation
God created the heavens and the earth out of nothing in six literal days, resting on the seventh day. He created everything through His words, excepting mankind, whom He formed out of the dirt (Genesis 1-2). God created everything for His own glory (Colossians 1:16)

Man
God created man on the sixth day, and breathed into him the breath of life (Genesis 1:26-31;2:7). He then created woman from the man’s rib (Genesis 2:21,22). Man was separated from God due to the sin of disobedience by way of eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Through this one sin, all of mankind is condemned (Romans 5:12). Only through the blood of Christ can we be reconciled unto God (Colossians 1:20). We are created in the image of God, being gifted a soul, intellect, free-will, and morality (Genesis 1:26; 2:7).

Sin
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23. Sin is anything that is against the holy and righteous law of God (1 John 3:4). Due to the first man’s sin, all of mankind has a nature that is against the law of God, making us all sinners (Ephesians 2:3). The first sin of mankind was to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:6-11). Due to this one sin, all of mankind is separated from God, as He cannot tolerate unholiness (Habakkuk 1:13). This one act has completely changed the very nature of man (Romans 5:12-14). No person with a sinful nature can do anything that pleases God (Romans 8:8; Hebrews 11:6). The result of sin is death (Romans 6:23), particularly a spiritual death (Ephesians 2:1-3).

Salvation
Salvation is freely offered to us by Christ and is the rescue from sin and the eternal punishment that comes with sin (Romans 3:24; 6:23). It reconciles man to God (Colossians 1:20-22). It has nothing to do with individual merit (Ephesians 2:8-9), but is received by faith in the deity, sacrifice, resurrection, and lordship of Christ (1 Corinthians 1:1-4; Acts 3:19). It is not a prayer, but an acceptance of the need to repent and the decision to do so, often accompanied by prayer (2 Corinthians 7:10; Acts 8:26-39). It is not received through faith in any other being and is not a result of baptism (Acts 10:44-48). It is a response of obedience to the call of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:30).
